The State of Michigan invested the resources provided by the federal Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund into the Realizing Opportunity with Broadband Infrastructure Networks (ROBIN) grant program. With applications opened up in early 2023 for grants to bring high-speed internet access to unserved locations (homes, businesses, and institutions without internet service of at least 100/20 Mbps from at least one internet service provider).

DCS has been working step-by-step to help identify where the unserved locations are, as well as recommendations for both the Internet Service Providers and Municipalities on how to best design the solutions. This includes over 26k homes, over $100M in project investment and $48.9M in Grants awarded.

The initial announcements outlines who the service providers are, as well as where the infrastructure to unserved areas are located.
